Lots of Random Stuff
I finally got my new camera after losing the old one. Hence the pictures on my blog. And we got a new surplus laptop from work so the Rocket Scientist and I have been busy updating software and such so we can actually use the new camera. We went outside and took some pictures of the kids just for fun.

Early Saturday Morning Love'ns
While Grandma was here, Handsome Face wasn't feeling too well. He fell asleep one day on the couch and we noticed that some clothing wasn't quite right. He looks for the tag to put in the back when getting dressed and this pair just happened to have a tag in the back and the front.Monday, October 11, 2010
I haven't posted for a long time. For a couple of weeks, life was just crazy and horrid and who wants to hear about that? And part of that horridness was losing the camera and so we haven't had any pictures, which is what everyone really likes anyway, and so I didn't post because of that.
We still don't have pictures but a new camera is on its way so hopefully there will be more soon.
Today was the first day of fall break. We went to lunch at a friends' ranch. The kids had fun playing outside and I had fun talking about raw milk and local honey.
We're about to go to the Rocket Scientists' softball game for our FHE activity. During the opening song of our Family Home Evening Handsome Face did all of the actions to "The Wise Man and the Foolish Man" while holding a trick-or-treat pumpkin over his face. Very, very funny.
So now I've posted.

You can see an awesome video of my little Handsome Face over at the Rocket Scientist's blog. I was really impressed when I came home and saw the video. I didn't think he'd be able to get any sound to come out but he did!
Of Course!
HF: A fly just went in my ear!
RS: Why would it do that?
HF: It likes to eat my ear boogers.

Scenes from yesterday
Last night at dinner Handsome Face said, "Look, Mom! I'm making a smile at you!"So Cute Girl made a funny face.
Before dinner Handsome Face was pushing a cranky Cute Girl in his Tonka truck. Funny enough, she was cranky because he wouldn't share his Tonka truck.

He turned 3!
We celebrated Handsome Face's birthday over the weekend. We had such a good time. We started out with breakfast. I made eggs and toast but I knew he'd really only want the bacon and some cereal. Sure enough, that's what he ate.
Then we headed for the pool. It was a great day for being in the water.Cute Girl with her life jacket, despite knowing how to swim. She drives me crazy sometimes.

The Plague
My children have been hit with sickness again. I've diagnosed it as viral tonsillitis. We're waiting for the lab results (which should have come today) to rule out strep throat completely. Cute Girl is going on a week of sore throat; Handsome Face is behind by a few days.
My boy is great. You can't even tell that he's sick other than the fact that he constantly clamors for all of the sick bed treats. I asked him this morning if his throat hurt and he replied, "My throat not hurt. My throat fine." I love that kid.
Cute Girl is completely different. While most of the time she is content to just quietly lay on some flat surface, she also refuses any of the home treatments that would help her. She's just miserable. Her tonsils are so swollen and covered in grossness that I can't even see the back of her throat. I had to call my paramedic father at eleven at night just to make sure her airway wouldn't close. I wasn't going to sleep otherwise. That girl won't drink anything, won't eat anything, won't take her Tylenol, and just generally tries to thwart me.
I can't wait for this to be over. I'm sick of listening to PBS cartoons all day long and being quarantined to my house. I will be overjoyed to put away all of the thermometers, sippy cups, essential oils, Tylenol bottles, flashlights, and tongue depressors that litter my house. I can't wait until all of the lemonade, Kool-Aid, root beer, popsicles, and ice cream (that are supposed to be enticing Cute Girl but are really just making Handsome Face a glutton) are gone.

Dyeing Eggs
We decorated our Easter eggs Saturday evening. The kids had a great time using all of the different techniques we came up with it. My personal favorite is the green egg wrapped in rubber bands.

Alice the Camel
... has two humps. Really, she does. There's two throw pillows under there. And the yellow broom in the back is the tail.

What little girl do those cute feet belong to, you might ask?
Why, none other than our Handsome Face!
How do you explain to a two-year-old that polish is only for girls? And of course if you're trying to follow your mother outside as quick as possible, it's only logical to put your sister's big shoes on rather than your own tight ones.

Scratch That
Maybe we're not all better. We'll be heading back to the doctors office this afternoon. Handsome Face is allergic to his antibiotics. He's itching all over and I have to watch him all day to make sure his airway doesn't close. Yippee.
Some Catch Up
Cute Girl made this train track herself. I was amazed because I have NEVER figured out how to use those funny triangle-shaped tracks. We've been to the doctor five times since the beginning of the year. I'm soooo tired of prescriptions. And I never want to see pink blobs of amoxycillin on my counter again.
Handsome Face playing the trombone
Now for some updates. Did you know the Rocket Scientist plays the trombone? He is uber-talented. So talented that on Monday he was actually lamenting the fact that he has so many talents and doesn't have time to develop them all. Boohoo. But back to the trombone. He could only ever play around on it because he didn't have any sheet music. So for Valentine's Day I got him some John William's music. We spent all last Saturday listening to the 1984 Olympic fanfare and the Star Wars' Imperial March. The kids thought it was awesome.
My snobby kids eating fondue for lunch
Then on Saturday evening we had friends over and ate fondue until 11 o'clock that night. It was a bit late for me as that was the first day that I had felt well in over a week but it was still fun. The Rocket Scientist makes really yummy fondue. We no longer go to the Melting Pot.
And speaking of food, yesterday my friends treated me to breakfast at Mimi's Cafe for my birthday. It was so fun. I love going out to breakfast. And my kids were even reasonably well-behaved. Cute Girl was actually quite the angel. I love it when they grow out of being stinkers all the time.

Handsome Face spends a lot of time in this corner of the family room. He's piling books and pillows with his truck. He calls this and other related games "making a truck job."
